PChome Reports NT$2.197 Billion in February Revenues
PChome (TWSE: 8044) today announced operating income for February 2017, with NT$2.197 billion in consolidated sales. As Chinese New Year fell on the end of January this year, most holiday shopping needs in February came earlier in January. As a result, consolidated sales in January and February combined (NT$4.639 billion) grew 1.03%, compared to the same period last year.
PChome offers a wide range of services, including PChome Shopping, PChome 24h Shopping and portals. E-commerce sales grew in February, thanks to back-to-school season, Valentine’s Day, fluctuating weathers, and long weekends. The B2C e-commerce website under PChome features over 5 million items, in which 1.9 million offer 24-hour delivery in Taiwan, and 6-hour delivery in Taipei City. With the largest B2C listing in Taiwan, diverse options, as well as fast and stable delivery, PChome has continued to be the top choice for e-commerce.
In response to back-to-school season in February, PChome 24h Shopping promoted special offers for student consumers, boosting sales in laptop, computer accessory, and home appliance categories with swift delivery and product diversity. Personal cookers and mini fridges under 100 liters and NT$5,000 have doubled orders on PChome 24h Shopping in February, compared to the same month last year. Revenues from other products, such as cookers, school bags, stationery, keyboards, computer mice, and vitamins, have grown by 20% to 30% compared to the same period last year.
Shipments for travel products increased due to Chinese New Year and the long weekend at the end of February. Compared to February last year, travel accessories ( increased by 40%), camping and picnic products ( increased by 25%), and healthcare supplements ( increased by 40%) performed better this year. Valentine’s Day also boosted shopping in the month. Fragrance orders in February on PChome 24h Shopping were 1.6 times higher than the same month last year.
Due to weather fluctuations and air quality concerns, air purifiers were 50% more popular in February than the same month last year, and mask sales increased by 20%. Winter bedding and other warming products also gained popularity with cold fronts.
